The BUILD for HOPE project is dedicated to improving the lives of Cambodia's most impoverished communities, especially those in rural areas surrounding Siem Reap. These areas often suffer from high poverty rates, where many families struggle to survive on less than a dollar a day. Most of the existing housing in these regions is rudimentary and can't withstand the frequent rainstorms. In response, BUILD for HOPE constructs traditional Khmer-style houses designed for durability and resilience, offering families safe and secure shelter for at least 15 years. Each house is a solid four meters by five meters structure with concrete footings, wooden sides and floorboards, and a durable tin roof. Beyond housing, these structures represent hope and positive change, a testament to the power of safe and stable living conditions. The project is about more than just building houses; it's a holistic approach to improving lives. The team works closely with the community and our social worker conducts thorough assessments to ensure that the neediest families are identified. Families receiving support must own their land and be debt-free to prevent eviction or repossession. This comprehensive strategy extends to addressing other critical aspects of living conditions, such as sanitation and education. BUILD for HOPE's impacts go far beyond the physical structures they create.
